The 5th Annual Ron's Run for the Roses
May 4, 2013

Unlike Churchill Downs, weather was never an issue for the 5th annual Ron’s Run for the Roses.  Nothing but sunny skies greeted our 400 glamorous guests as they walked the New Country Motors Mercedes-Benz red carpet and struck a pose.

These same beautiful people donned purple sashes with the name of loved ones and friends impacted by pancreatic cancer and continued on into our biggest tent EVER.  There was a feeling of commitment as the crowd proceeded to bid on the jaw-dropping live and silent auction items with fervor.

When Amanda Laffin spoke of her Mom’s battle with pancreatic cancer and the joy that Ron’s Rescue fund provided to her Mom and her family during her last days there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.  And then something magical happened…a sea of bid numbers appeared throughout the tent.  In the end, $30,000 was raised insuring that Ron’s Rescue would help many more pancreatic cancer patients in the future.

The Foundation’s goal for this year was to raise $200,000 in total donations, nearly doubling last year’s earnings and I am so pleased to report that YOU made that happen!

The 5th annual Ron’s Run for the Roses was groundbreaking in many ways from attendance to auction revenues to total funds raised in support of pancreatic cancer research, education and direct patients’ needs.  But most memorable was the feeling of determination and commitment among our guests to battle this deadly disease.
